12th Annual BC Championship Forklift Rally Kicks It Up A Notch!

Forklift Rally 2007

For the past several years the Forklift Rally has been held at the Coverall Building at the Cloverdale Exhibition Grounds. The “building” is about 7500 sq. ft. and has the perfect flat surface for running the Rally, but there were three main problems:

1) At 7500 sq.ft. the building was just too small to be running 3 driving courses and still have plenty of room for spectators and trade show tables etc.

2) The building was not heated – not a problem for some but in the early morning before the sun started to warm the area you could see your breath for the first hour of the Rally (brrrr).

3) The bathrooms were on the far side of the parking lot – what more needs to be said – not a lot of fun : (

But this year things have changed. With the increased popularity of the Forklift Rally we are stepping up. The building for this years event at 18,000 sq.ft. is 2.5 times the size of the previous building. On top of that the building is heated, has a concession area and washrooms.

Now, this may not sound like a big deal if you’ve never been out the Forklift Rally before, but if you have brought out the family for the day as many people do this should make for a more comfortable event for all.

The 12th Annual BC Championship Forklift Rally takes place on Saturday May 2nd, 2009 at the Cloverdale Agriplex located on the Cloverdale Fairgrounds. The competition starts at 9am and usually concludes by 2:30pm. The event is presented by the Canadian Materials Handling and Distribution Society (CMHDS). In 2008 the Rally drew almost 70 competitors and the number continues to grow each year. Spectators are admitted free of charge and we encourage everyone to bring the family, come out and make a day of it. The people who participate in the Forklift Rally are some of the finest Forklift Operators you will see and are integral to the Canadian economy ensuring the movement of goods throughout the country and beyond.
